DC Outlaws - Race Results

Due to our own spectating and then a computer crash, we have been a little
lax in updating our website with race results as well as with new photos.
But alas, our computer is up and running.  We hope to have the new pics on
the site very soon and Mike Griffin was kind enough to give us a run down
of the Capitol Raceway event in June.

Congratulations to Duke for winning the 4th event of the season.

As it happened, Duke took out Mike McKenzie and Bruce Bennett took out
Mike Griffin in the semi-finals.  Griffin was late on the tree and McKenzie
broke.  Duke took out Bennett in the finals.

Another great race for the DC Outlaw's

Despite the rain showers on Saturday, the DC Outlaws stuck it out at
Beaver Springs this past weekend.  Considering the President's Cup at MIR
was also this weekend, we had a pretty good turn out in PA for this race.

Due to the weather conditions, our Outlaws did not have any qualifying
shots and the race did not start until 7pm, when the drivers drew name's out
of a hat to determine who they would race.  We also ran an 1/8 mile track.

First round, Joe Kaiser took out Matt Stambaugh.  Bruce Bennett red lit and
Mike McKenzie broke.  Jimmy Pergine took out Terry Smith.

Because McKenzie broke first round, he was not able to make the Semi's.
Terry Smith was the fastest loser first round and found himself a spot in the
Semi-final round, thanks to Mike McKenzie's broken hot rod.  Joe Kaiser
took Smith out with a 4.32 and Duke beat Jimmy Pergine with a 4.21.

Congratulations to Duke Roney who took out Joe Kaiser to win
the Final round.  Joe left the starting line and had transmission troubles
when he hit second gear.  Duke ran a 4.21 to Joe's 4.65.

Thank you all for sticking it out at Beaver Springs despite the weather and
making this another great race day.

Unfortunately, there was no winner at Mason Dixon Dragway on Sunday.
On the road to the finals, Bob Holtzner took out Duke Roney, our winner at
MIR a few weeks ago, in the Semi final round and  Joe Kaiser took out
Latchman.  As Kaiser and Holztner lined up in the finals, the starter
mistakenly used a 6/10 pro tree as opposed to a 4/10 pro tree, resulting in a
double red light.  Apologies were made, but in the end neither of our guys
won the race.

Congratulations to
Duke Roney who won the first DC Outlaw
race of the season at MIR on 4.12.08

During the semi-finals, Bob Holtzner took the win over Joe Kaiser as Duke
Roney out ran Richard Wilson.

Final round belonged to Duke as he ran a 6.46 @ 210mph against Bob
Holtzner's 8.27 @ 99.45mph

DC OUTLAWS

The DC Outlaws is a racing organization put together for heads up
racers…
by racers… in hopes of putting some fun back into racing.
We run on a 6.40 index so it’s not a true heads up race; however,
any type of car, any combination is welcome, from a rocket ship to
a wheel barrel. We don't care!  NHRA Safety Regulations are a
requirement and you must possess an NHRA Advanced ET driver’s
license.

Rules?
WHAT RULES???????  We only ask that there are no
starting line games or burn downs…courtesy staging please.  We
run an 8 car field, qualifying on a 6.40 index.  The 8 cars closest to
the 6.40 index make the field.  6.40 break out in effect.  You run
quicker than 6.40 in qualifying, you do not qualify.  Likewise, if
you run quicker than 6.40 in any race other than the final round,
you are out.  The ladder works like an NHRA Pro Ladder. 1 runs 8,
2 runs 7 and so on.  As mentioned before, final round is run ALL
OUT…no 6.40 index rule applies.  Entry fee is $100 which gets the
car driver and 3 crew members in the track.

Payout is as follows:  $100 entry fee – 100% paid back to the pot
Winner - $1200
Runner Up - $800
Semi Final - $450
First Round Loser - $225

If you have questions regarding the 2008 season or wish to join the
DC Outlaws, please contact Joe Kaiser at 540.729.0524.
